Watkins, New York, 19th century, intaglio carved mahogany boards including one square, centered with a basket of fruit and flowers and leaf and berry borders, impressed "J. CONGER" on one edge; a square board centered with a round medallion with a man and woman flanked by large leaves, with fanciful carved borders impressed "J.Y. WATKINS NY" at upper left corner and top edge; an unmarked rectangular board with carved elipse centered with a basket of flowers in a round medallion flanked by ellipses with an urn and a cornucopia, together with an intaglio carved rolling pin with flower designs all around, 11 x 10 7/8, 10 7/8 x 10 1/2, 11 3/4 x 22 3/8 in., respectively; rolling pin lg. 13 in. Provenance: Labels affixed to the reverse of the cakeboards with the man and woman and the ellipse are inscribed "Ex coll. Gale H. Carter Old Greenwich CT."
