William C. Van Zandt (American, ac. 1844-after 1860) Winter Afternoon Sleigh Ride. Signed and dated "W.C. Van Zandt, 1910" l.l. Oil on canvas, the man portrayed is wearing a fur robe and hat, seated on a black-painted sleigh drawn by a chestnut horse with black mane, tail, and stockings, across the winter landscape, 23 x 28 in., in a gilt gesso frame. Condition: Good, minor craquelure. Note: William Van Zandt is known as a portrait and animal painter, active in Albany, New York, from circa 1844 until after 1860.
