Attributed to Horace Bundy (Vermont and New Hampshire, 1814-1883) Portrait of Little Girl in Blue Wearing Coral Jewelry. Unsigned. Oil on canvas, depicting the blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl wearing a blue off-the-shoulder dress with white lace trim, a beaded coral necklace and two beaded coral bracelets, holding a pink rose in one hand, 29 1/2 x 24 3/4 in., in an oval format within a period molded giltwood frame. Condition: Canvas laid onto Masonite, repaired tear at center, scattered retouch Note: Horace Bundy was an itinerant artist and Adventist preacher in New Hampshire and Vermont in the 1840s and 1850s. He often used a painted oval to surround his subjects, such as in this example.
