Musical Snuff Box in Tinplate Case Illustrating the Letter "A", No. 8497, the bedplate stamped VMG , playing two airs on sectional-comb (teeth in groups of four), in green painted tinplate case with transfer-decorated flowering borders and lid with image and text Ane, Astronomie, & a. , wd. 3 1/2 in., (edge loss on right-side). Note: The lid depicts a comical character being instructed in the use of an astronomical telescope which is mounted on top of a large capital "A", observed by a woman and a donkey (the ane ) who has pushed his head through the middle section of the letter.
