Miye Matsukata Handwrought Vase Sterling Boston, Massachusetts, mid 20th century Tapering form with shaped rim, marked Entirely Handwrought Miye Sterling, ht. 7 1/2 in. Note: Miye was a jewelry designer, silversmith, and goldsmith. She graduated from the Museum of Fine Arts then traveled on scholarship to the Middle East and Scandinavia before opening her atelier on Newbury St. in Boston in 1950. Born in Tokyo in 1922 she died in Boston in 1981.
