Miniature Portrait on Ivory-mounted Tortoiseshell Snuff Box, England/France, early 19th century, the round shell box mounted to lid with the portrait of a woman in blue dress, with lace cap and fichu, signed l. r. Desneyers, and indisctinctly dated c. 1809, portrait dia. 2 3/8, box dia. 3 3/8 in. Portrait: moisture damage to lower 3/4 perimeter of portrait, extending approx. 1/8" from edge; extending farther (approx 1/2") to the lady''s right lower arm, and also into date at center right. nicely painted. Box: base rim chip approx. 1/4" long. Base rim hairline approx. 1/4" long. interior of lid showing a hairline to center, running approx. 3/4 the width ofhe box.
