George III Mahogany Chest on Chest, last quarter 18th century, of typical form, upper section with three short over three long drawers, lower with four long graduated drawers, with pilasters in the upper case, ogee bracket feet, ht. 74 1/2, wd. 42, dp. 22 in. Virtually no finish at all; heavily sun bleached; many parts off but mostly present; back right foot off but present; long shrinkage cracks to sides; age typical minor defects; pulls have not been changed or at least there is no evidence of another set of pulls; backboards match top and bottom as do dove tails; the drawers do have some strips nailed in to replace worn runners; no blocking to underneath of base; feet original.
