2 3/4-inch Library Telescope by Dollond, engraved on face-plate Dollond, London , with 43-inch tapering mahogany tube with original finish and later (? ) gilt grain-painting, rack-and-pinion focusing, lacquered brass fittings, eyepiece tube, three eyepiece lenses and object lens cap, on brass pillar and folding cabriole feet, extended 57 in., in fitted dovetailed mahogany case with later retailer's card of N.B. Chamberlain, Philosophical Instruments, Nos. 2 & 9 School St., Boston and engraved folio (foxed and folded) illustration titled Description of the Three Feet and a Half Achromatic Telescope. Made by P. and J. Dollond, in St. Paul's Church-Yard, London , case 45 in. Note: Brothers Peter and John Dollond are listed at 59 North Side of St. Paul's Church Yard from 1769 - 1804. Good original condition, some wear to lacquer. Untested. Case finish worn, lid joints loose.
