Cary, Strand, Nov. 1820. , made up of twelve engraved gores with countries and territories shaded yellow, pale green and pink, the coasts outlined, the Equatorial divided by hours and degrees, the Ecliptic by days of the month and sigils of the Zodiacal calendar, Meridian of Greenwich, the oceans marked with the tracks of various explorers, South Africa shown as Parts Unknown, South America labeled with Terra Firma and Amazonia, North America showing major rivers and mountain ranges, in calibrated brass meridian ring with polar hour ring, red-rimmed horizon ring with decorative border, Gregorian and Zodiacal calendars, on four baluster-turned mahogany legs joined by tapering "X" stretcher, ht. 14 1/2 in., (professionally restored, crack around Japan, old repaired split and minor losses on horizon ring). Three cracks and attendant losses on ring, repair to stretcher, repaired crack around Japan, scattered brown stains, globe has been re-lacquered, horizon ring retains original lacquer.
