Overture-Format Mandoline Musical Box by Bremond, No. 7965, playing Norma in two revolutions and four other airs including an embellished arrangement of The Last Rose of Summer , The Soldier's Chorus from Faust and The Shadow Dance also known as The Pardon of Ploermel from Dinorah , with small groups of up to four mandoline teeth, flat-topped winding lever, and rosewood veneered case with red interior and canted corners, elaborately inlaid on front and lid with boxwood, mother-of-pearl and colored enamels, wd. 21 1/2, cylinder 13 x 3 in. dia. Movement has been cleaned and overhauled; plays very well with pronounced a mandoline effect on some airs and variations-like arrangements on others. Case retains the original finish with a pleasing patina.
