Emile Jumeau Pressed Bisque Bebe, impressed Depose E 11 J and red painter's mark L , with closed mouth showing white space between lips, fixed blue/gray paperweight eyes, finely-painted lashes, multi-stroke brows, original blonde mohair wig (reworked onto new cotton cap), and four floating-ball jointed papier-mache body with straight wrists, shellacked over the original finish and blue stamp Jumeau, Medaille d'Or, Paris on the back, in checked white cotton dress, cotton and wool undergarments, knitted stockings, brown kid shoes and straw hat trimmed with flowers and feathers, ht. 24 in., (approx. two tiny wig pulls on forehead, some wear to body, dress toned, hat in photograph not included). Provenance: From the family of her original owner, Esther Smith. Esther was born in Northern Ireland, but spent much of her life living on Elm St., in Brookline, Massachusetts. Please note: Light rub on right cheek. Head appears free of damage when lit, tiny wig pulls as noted, including over right ear, light rub on right cheek, body shellacked over the original finish beneath, some wear to a couple of the finger tips.
