Georges Alfred Bottini (French, 1874-1907) Au café, 1897, edition of 25. Signed and dated "George Bottini 97" in pencil l.r., inscribed "Harry van der Zee sc" in pencil l.l. Color woodcut with additional coloring on chine collé, image size 6 1/4 x 7 5/8 in. (15.9 x 19.3 cm), framed. Condition: Margins over 3/4 inches, unobtrusive toning, not examined out of frame. Captioned "L''auberge" in graphite on reverse. Margins at least 2 1/2 inches, tape/glue residue to top corners, masking tape affixed to back top; time toning and staining. Areas of "addtional coloring" (which we believe to be by the artist and appear to be thin washes of color) are possibly in the area of the washbasin and depicted artwork on the wall in the u.r. quadrant.
