Jamini Roy (Indian, 1887-1992) Portrait of Mother and Child Signed in Bengali l. r. Tempera on cardstock, sheet size 16 3/8 x 10 1/2 in. (41.6 x 26.7 cm), framed. Condition: Brown paper tape hinged to the beveled mat, minor craquelure, minor losses in the u.l. quadrant. Provenance: Acquired by John Fischer (editor of Harper's Magazine, 1953-1967), probably in India around World War II; New England private collection by family descent. No additional condition issues to report.
