William Richardson Tyler (American, 1825-1896) Moonlit Sail Signed "W. R.Tyler" l.r. Oil on canvas, 20 x 12 in. (50.8 x 30.5 cm), framed. Condition: Tears, very mild varnish inconsistencies and/or light washes of retouch, surface grime. The larger tear (u.r.) measures approximately 3 in by 1 1/2 in. There is also a smaller tear (u.l.) which measures approximately 1/2 by 1 in. Both tears with losses in addition to minute scattered losses. Areas of light glazes of retouch to ship and foreground. The work might benefit from a gentle cleaning.
