William Stanley Haseltine (American, 1835-1900) Lot of Two Views: Sailing Vessels Near Santa Maria Della Salute, Venice and Grand Canal, Santa Maria Della Salute Sailing Vessels initialed "WmSH" l. r., both with Fogg Art Museum Loan labels and identified on labels from Doll & Richards, Boston affixed to the backing, both inscribed and identified "Property of Helen Haseltine Plowden..." on the reverse. Watercolor and gouache on paper/board, sight sizes 14 1/2 x 21 1/2 in. (36.8 x 54.6 cm), framed. Condition: Rippling, mild toning, foxing, staining, not examined out of frames. Grand Canal with puncture in the u.l. quadrant, approx. 5/8"H x 3/4"W, minor foxing, brown gum taped to window mat on left, right, and bottom edges, cloth taped to top edge; Sailing Vessels with scattered foxing, mat burn, blue paper taped to window mat on all four sides, gentle rippling to sheet.
