William Zorach (American, 1887-1966) Southern France , c. 1911-1912 Unsigned, inscribed and identified on a label from the Cleveland School of Art. Oil on unprimed artist board, 13 x 15 5/8 in. (33.0 x 39.7 cm), framed. Condition: Tack holes to the corners, minor surface grime. Provenance: Private collection, acquired from the artist. Exhibition: Cleveland School of Art, "Thirteenth Anniversary Celebration Exhibition," May 30 to June 9, 1913. There are some small scattered areas of light retouch. Additionally, there is a small area (1 in by 1/4 in.) of lifting to pigment and support in the u.r. The work would possibly benefit from a gentle cleaning.
