Antique Miniature Eye Portrait Pendant, the portrait on ivory depicting a brown eye and curling lock, framed by plaited brown hair, gold mount, reverse inscribed "Estimez la Donneuse", lg. 1 3/4 in. Note: According to the consignor, the portrait was attributed by E. Grosvenor Paine to J.C.D. Engleheart (1784-1862), who exhibited at the Royal Academy in the first decades of the 19th century. No supporting documentation is available with the lot. Navette Eye with Hair Surround Measures approx. 1 3/4 x 1 inch. Small losses to paint. Some clear adhesive visible on hair work. Crystal replaced with plastic cover. Small dent on back where jump ring rests against gold.
