Mahogany Patent Timepiece by Abel Stowell, Charlestown, Massachusetts, c. 1830, with half round frames enclosing reverse-painted glasses, the waist glass marked Patent , the lower Lake Erie , 7 3/4 in. dia. dial marked Abel Stowell, Charlestown, 1833 , eight-day time-only movement with pendulum and cast iron weights, ht. 33 in. Both glasses are old repaints, dial is cleaned, relined including signature and sealed, seal coat now yellowed, movement "through bolts" for attachment to the case now gone; although signature is relined, the movement case and dial are consistent with Abel Stowell and the date 1833.
