Anglo-Indian Hardwood, Shell, and Ivory Veneered Sewing Box, early 20th century, the coromandel rectangular case with ogee edging, and side lifting handles, interior of lid inlaid with incised ivory roundel with central bust of a monarch, in foliate scrolls and birds, interior fitted with two tiers of compartments, mounted with further incised ivory and shell plaques in inlaid borders, and storage box fitted with seven small drawers, (losses, shrinkage/swelling), lg. 17 3/4, ht. 7 1/4, dp. 13 1/8 in. large shrinkage crack to center of lid. finish wear and scratching. Interior storage with shrinkage and swelling, causing the pieces to fit poorly (storge box not fitting back into box at present). veneers and inlay lifting, with losses and loose pieces. losses to metal pulls of drawers/lids.
