* Mongeard Mugneret Echezeaux Vieille Vignes 1993 (3 bts) 1996 (1 bt) Cote de Nuits 1993 Tasting Note: "Initial bricking with nicely complex, beautifully spicy and mostly secondary aromas though no sous bois that leads to ever-so-slightly rustic, rich, sweet and nicely concentrated flavors that have lost most if not all of the underlying tannin. This is beginning to take on a lovely velvety quality with just a touch of finishing structure and acidity on the lingering backend. As with most of the Mongeard wines, there is a sense of underlying oak but it's not overt, rather it manifests itself as a change in texture. In sum, this is an exceptionally pretty wine that could be drunk now and over the next 10 years." Burghound, 91 pts. 05/05 4 bottles
