Renzo Colombo (Italian, 1856-1885), Bronze Figure of a Renaissance Scribe, the standing figure in cap and long robe, reading a piece of paper, on three tiered green marble base, with engraved presentation inscription, full ht. 22, bronze ht. 17 3/4 in. Note: Presentation inscription reads: "Presented by the Members of the Special Reception Committee for the President of the United States at the Guildhall on December 28th 1918 to their Chairman Sir Harry Frankland Hepburn." This refers to Resident Woodrow Wilson's visit to London, at which he gave a speech regarding the Treaty of Nations, shortly after the conclusion of the horrific Great War, World War I.
