American Electric Guitar, Gibson Incorporated, Kalamazoo, 1955, Model Les Paul, the headstock with GIBSON pearl inlay, silkscreened LES PAUL MODEL and stamped 513763 at the reverse, length of body 17 5/16 in. , with original case and hang tag. Light surface scratches on natural mahogany finish back, very little fret wear. One puncture hole in case under handle. Hardware all correct, minimal play, all parts completely straight stock, early version of Tune-o-matic bridge with no retaining springs, pot dates not readable, but everything factory original, truss rod never adjusted, still contains black lacquer on nut. Note: Guitar top has no finish check, surface is unbuffed, color was probably buffed through, then sent back to production to be reshot before completed. Raking light shows oxidized green to metal flake. Pick-up resistance; neck 8K Ohm, bridge 7.7K Ohm. A 1955 time capsule.
