Small Needlework Mourning Picture, Hingham, Massachusetts, second quarter 19th century, worked in silk threads and wool yarns on a silk ground with watercolor details, depicting a grieving woman leaning on an urn-topped monument with applied paper with ink inscriptions reading "Sacred To the memory of Mrs. Sally Lincoln/died July 18th 1833 ae 48 years./Mr. Noah Lincoln/died July 31st AE 1856 AE 84 yrs.," with a weeping willow and church in the background, 5 7/8 x 4 3/8 in. Note: Genealogy research indicates Noah Lincoln was born August 23, 1772 in Hingham, Massachusetts, his wife Sally (Howe) was born about 1785, they married April 9, 1802 in Boston, then resided in Hingham, Massachusetts and together had twelve children, all born in Hingham, Massachusetts.
