Daguerreotype Portrait of Jenny Lind Taken From a Portrait Miniature, America, c. 1861, ninth plate size daguerreotype, depicting an image of a portrait miniature taken of the famous Swedish soprano singer nicknamed "The Swedish Nightingale." The portrait miniature was a copy painted after a daguerreotype of Jenny Lind taken by Marcus and Samuel Root of New York City or Philadelphia, c. 1861, which is in the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution. This daguerreotype offered here is also inscribed "Jenny Lind" at the bottom of the silver over copper photo plate and is housed in the original molded giltwood frame, (perimeter tarnish and area u.c.). Provenance: The daguerreotype was reportedly from an estate auction in Ohio; the deceased was a collector of Jenny Lind objects.
