Needlework Sampler, "Melona Mixter born Feb. 3. 1808 aged 14 year," possibly Massachusetts, wrought in silk threads on a linen ground with bands of alphabets over a pious verse and motifs of flowers, bowls of fruit, birds, houses, trees, and dogs, surrounded by an undulatin grapevine, (thread losses, fading), 18 x 19 in., in a later molded birds-eye maple frame. Note: Genealogical research finds that a girl matching the name and birthdate of Melona Mixter was born in Worcester, Massachusetts to Joseph and Persis Mixter. Six letters have lost some or all or their stiches
