Portrait Miniature of a Young Gentleman, probably America, c. 1835, watercolor on ivory bust-length portrait depicting the man with side-swept brown hair, wearing a black jacket and a cravat tied in a bow, 2 1/8 x 1 3/4 in., set in an oval pendant gilt-brass frame with chased bezel, the reverse with an empty glazed oval aperture, further housed in an oval brown leather case. Condition: Very good. Note: Oral history relates that the gentleman is a member of the Brinkerhoff family. The hinge is broken on the leather case.
