Pair of Polychrome Paint Decorated Leather Firebuckets, America, early 19th century, the fire buckets centered with a shaped reserve topped with a banner inscribed "PROTECTION IN DANGER" and "No. 1" and "No. 2," over a cenotaph memorializing George Washington, initialed "W" and dated "1800," above a banner inscribed with the name "JEREM'H B. THOMPSON," on a a black painted ground, red painted collar, (imperfections), ht. 12 in. Both Lacking handles and handle rings, paint losses and scattered retouch, one moreso than the other.
