original oil on artist board Commissioned by Robert Hensley (CEO of Life Insurance of Kentucky) and unveiled at Churchill Downs just before the start of the 1963 Kentucky Derby. This vibrant masterpiece is of the historic 1914 Kentucky Derby when Old Rosebud beat the field by eight lengths, setting a record that lasted for 17 years. In the 1970's Mr. Hensley traded the painting to a private collector (for a value of $25,000.00) where it has remained ever since. For the first time the painting is now being offered on the open market.
