Mahogany Four Column Shelf Clock by Heman Clark, Plymouth, Connecticut, c. 1825, with free-standing columns flanking the 13 in. painted iron dial with Roman numerals and signed H. Clark, Plymouth , the lower section with free-standing columns and a reverse-painted tablet depicting a quaint rural village, eight-day brass, rack and snail "Salem Bridge" movement with embossed pendulum bob and two lead weights, ht. 26 1/2 in. Note: For related examples see Chris H. Bailey, Heman Clark and the "Salem Bridge" Shelf Clocks , NAWCC Bulletin Supplement, June 1980, pp. 20-23 Case refinished, dial with minor touch up, otherwise undisturbed, replacement seconds hand, lower tablet paint is unstable with flaking and loose paint, no evidence of printed label.
