William B. Durgin Co. (American (New Hampshire/ Rhode Island), founded 1853, absorbed into Gorham in 1905). A sterling silver vase of octagonal trumpet form with octagonal saucer foot surmounted by narrow ankle, cylindrical eight faced body with beveled shoulder, and ruffled flared rim over round neck. Marked to underside "Sterling" below a script D in a shield form cartouche, above "94" and "12ins". Approximately 11.875" tall, 4.375" diameter at top. Total approximate weight 10.15 troy ounces. Note: after Durgin's absorption into Gorham in 1905, the "script D" mark remained in use by Gorham until 1930.
