Mexican, second half 20th century. A carved wood carnival mask in the form of a mythical beast head, apparently a combination of ram and boar, mounted with likely natural ram horns and blue glass eyes, the naturalistic form with flaring nostrils, gaping mouth bearing extended tongue, and reticulated spiral curled hair to chin and back of head, the whole with gold and silver gilt decoration overpainted with red and green flame patterning and flowers. Inscribed below chin "Decoto. Raymundo Rodriguez M". Approximately 14" tall, 19.25" wide, 17.375" deep.
