Newcomb College Decorated Pottery Pitcher Clay in glossy glaze New Orleans, Louisiana, 1902 Slender form decorated with yellow flowers and arrowheads in green outlined in black, marks on base include JM for Joseph Meyer, potter; HJ for Harriet Coulter Joor, decorator; NC for Newcomb College, U for white clay and G30, repaired handle, arrested damage, ht. 6 3/4 in. Provenance: From the family of William E. Roberts. Mr. Roberts's sister was Gertrude Roberts Smith, an early member of the Newcomb College faculty.
