French, c. early 20th century. A massive French walnut armoire in the style of the Louis Philippe era (1773-1850), the heavy molded projecting cornice over a coved frieze surmounting the case, the molded sides decorated with applied carved decoration comprising Rococo c-scroll and acanthus forms and central strapwork with convex oval medallions, the case facade comprising two large astragal molded doors with central applied acanthus leaf decoration and round molded wooden keyhole escutcheons, opening to interior with scalloped top shelf surmounting a large open storage compartment to the left and shelf space as well as a single drawer to the right, all surmounting two lower drawers separated by a partition each with keyholes above a base molding over a cyma-curved apron with molded c and s-scrolls and central applied fleur de lis, raised on squared feet. Approximate height 98.75", width (at top) 71", width (at bottom) 62", depth 21.25".
