George III Mahogany Long Case Clock, third quarter 18th century, dial signed Thomas Lamson (? ) Hertford, arched hood with three spire and ball finials and sloped sides above free-standing columnar supports, enclosing a steel face with openwork brass spandrels, two-train movement with hour strike only, date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial; mid-case with tombstone door and lappet pilasters, outside plinth on ogee bracket feet, ht. 97 1/2 in. Upper section of hood re-built and with some veneer cracking; face heavily rubbed through the silvering; works restored and appear complete; case with more than average scuffing and denting; veneer shrinkage throughout, but heavy to the plinth with some waviness; very good color; veneer loss to case next to lock.
