Carved Oak Slant-lid Document Box and Cover, probably Spain, 18th century, incised foliage to front panel, iron hinges and lock, lg. 15, dp. 9 3/4, ht. 9 1/2 in. Age typical wear; lid possibly an old replacement. likely reduced in size from a lager bible box. Refinished. Patina thin, and slightly opaque and uneven to lid. Old hinges with more modern screws. Lock not original. Minor shrinkage cracks and edge wear and gouges.
