Spanish Gilt-Gesso and Polychrome Decorated Wood Santos Figure, 18th/19th century, possibly Colonial, depicting a female saint, standing with hands poised in prayer, mounted with glass eyes, with flaring cloak painted and incised with foliates, standing on turned ovoid base, ht. 14 1/4 in. head may have been off at some point, and repaired at neck join. shrinkage cracks to hands, and losses to fingertips. minor worming. suface wear and lifting of paint, with some losses. back edge of base with loss approx. 3 x 2 inches.
