Edward Benjamin Herberte (1857-1893). "Fox Hunt" - 1881, oil on canvas, signed and dated lower right "E.B. Herbert". Painting depicts four distinguished Englishmen on horseback following a dog engaged in fox hunting. One of the riders is being thrown to the ground as his horse trips and falls over a fence that the group is jumping. Label on verso from Sotheby's New York, an old gallery or museum label, and a torn label with biographical information on the artist. Framed approximately 21.25" x 25", unframed approximately 14.25" x 18.25".
