Rare African Carved Wood King's Figure, Kuba, the hardwood form seated on a base with incised geometric pattern, with hands to the knees and wearing various ornaments including a sash with cowrie shell decoration, wrist and ankle bands, dark patina, (wood loss), some rodent damage to eyes and nose, ht. 18 1/2 in. Provenance: The Paul Rabut collection; Ex-collection Mert Simpson. Exhibitions: University of Connecticut Museum of Art, November 1973 to March 1974.
