Mahogany Box with Relief-carved Decoration, probably New England, early 19th century, rectangular box with hinged lid, the top carved with a bowl of fruit and flowers, the front with opposing cornucopia, the two sides with flower blossom and leaves, designs enclosed by floral and foliate borders, the interior lid inset with a mirror, (age crack on cover), ht. 5 1/4, wd. 10 1/4, dp. 5 3/4 in. The crack from center rt. is about 3 1/2 in. lg. the back panel is uncarved, the thin frame around interior mirror now gone, lock missing, a small portion of one brass hinge and a few small areas of wood around hinges are missing, a couple small age cracks on bottom corners.
