Silk Needlework Mourning Picture, probably America, c. 1790, silk threads and paint on silk, depicting an urn-topped monument with stitched inscriptions "Sacred to Mrs. Sally Kimball. Died May 17, 1790. AE 30 Years," the monument flanked by a painted cherub and a weeping willow tree, (eglomise glass cracked, scattered stitch losses), sight size 14 x 12 in., in original eglomise glass mat and period embossed brass frame. Glass placed over original glass (which has a crack -to secure it), blue background stitches have many subtle breaks, unobtrusive unless under very close inspection.
