Needlework Sampler, "Eliza'h McCarthy 1780," worked in silk threads on a linen ground centered with a large tree flanked by flowers with rows of alphabets above a pious verse below, interspersed with bands of geometric motifs, hearts, and flowers, enclosed on three sides with an undulating flowering vine, (fading, stitch losses), sight size 20 1/2 x 9 in. , housed in a later wood frame. Most of the stitch losses are in the lettering of the pious verseand particularly the second line of verse.
