Italian/American School, 20th Century Portrait of Guglielmo Marconi and His Yacht ELETTRA. Signed and dated "Wm. Fellini 1951" l.r., vessel identified on bow. Oil on wood panel, 27 1/2 x 39 3/4 in., with applied mitered wood frame. Condition: Very good. Note: Guglielmo Marconi (1874-1937) was an Italian inventor and electrical engineer best known for his development of wireless telegraphy. The yacht Elettra , originally called the Rovenska , was built in 1904 and started out as a minesweeper during WWI. She was purchased by Marconi in 1919 for use in wireless experiments at sea and entertaining his famous guests.
