Portrait of a Young Man Wearing a Blue Jacket, c. 1800, watercolor on ivory, 2 1/4 x 1 3/4 in., oval bust-length portrait, housed in a gilt-metal locket case, the reverse fitted with a lock of plaited hair in a small oval aperture. Condition: Minor paint smudges on edges. The background shows some diagonal hatching at l.l. but the rest is a smooth gray, may or may not be intentional.
