Rosewood "Parlor No. 2" Variant Shelf Clock probably by Atkins, Whiting & Company, Bristol, Connecticut, c. 1855, a possible proto-type clock with 5 1/4 in. painted zinc Roman dial, gold and blue transfer decorated tablet of a flower in the upper door, a looking glass in the lower section, steel plated spring powered time and strike movement, possibly of 30-day duration with Geneva stops, tinned iron wheelwork, roller verge escapement, countwheel strike and lantern pinions, ht. 16 1/2 in. Provenance: Anthony J. Sposato Collection, Richard A. Bourne Co., October 29, 1985, lot 134. Minor inpainting on dial, both glasses are the original, veneer in excellent condition with the exception of a 1-inch loss on the object right base molding, "male" section of Geneva stops now gone.
