Miniature Mahogany Pillar and Scroll Clock by Mark Leavenworth, Waterbury, Connecticut, c. 1825, with scroll top, brass urn finials, free-standing columns flanking the door over painted wooden dial with raised gilt decoration and Arabic numerals, painted tablet of two dwellings, printed maker's label inside case stating Eli Terry's Patent Clocks, Made and Sold by Mark Leavenworth, Waterbury, Connecticut , on French feet with scalloped apron, 30-hour wooden movement with count wheel strike, two iron weights and pendulum engraved ML 1816 , ht. 24 1/2 in.. Related examples and an informed discussion can be found in Snowden Taylor, The Clocks of Mark Leavenworth , pp. 16-22. glass is repainted, scalloped apron appears to be original, feet are replacements, object right scroll tip broken and repaired, veneer repairs on median rail of door, dial discolored and some inpainting, iron plates attached to back of dial to correct warp, recent screws through dial in the 9--3 area to secure dial to case.
