Mahogany Pillar and Scroll Clock by Erastus Hodges, Torrington, Connecticut, c. 1830, with scroll top, free-standing columns flanking the door with glazed top over the painted wooden dial with raised gilt decoration, floral spandrels and Arabic numerals, lower painted tablet of two large buildings, printed maker's label on backboard, French feet and scalloped apron, 30-hour 'Torrington' wooden movement with count wheel strike, recoil escapement, two iron weights and pendulum, ht 29 1/2 in. repainted tablet, finials are proper style and construction but probably replacements, dial is undisturbed, printed maker''s label protected with mylar, no significant repairs or replacements on movement; scrolls, feet glue blocks and skirting are original, weights are probably newer replacements.
