Painted Tin Mantel Clock by Samuel Down, New York, c. 1870, with black painted tin case, hinged top plate revealing a storage area about the depth of the crown molding, decorated with gilt scroll work and molding highlights, flat columns flanking the 5 3/4 in. dia. enameled dial with Roman numerals and inscribed Samuel Down, New York , English eight-day brass fusee, time only movement, ht. 21 1/4 in. Hairline crack and slight damage around winding hole on dial.
