Mahogany Striking Mirror Clock by James Jones, Concord, New Hampshire, circa 1840, slightly trapezoidal ogee case form with full-length door, reverse-painted tablet over the 7 3/4 in. painted iron dial signed J. Jones, Concord, N.H. , looking glass in lower section, eight-day time and strike movement with rack and snail, two lead weights and pendulum, ht. 31 1/2 in. The present clock is illustrated and discussed in Charles S. Parsons, New Hampshire Clocks and Clockmakers , p. 235. Tablet repainted; although period, the lower looking glass is a probable replacement as it is secured by recent blocks, case refinished.
