Mahogany Alarm Patent Timepiece or "Banjo" Clock, Massachusetts, circa 1820, with half-round frames enclosing reverse painted glasses simulating mahogany panels, 7 1/2 in. painted iron dial with Roman numerals, brass side ornaments flanking the waist section, lower molded pediment, eight-day time and alarm movement with "acorn" bell/finial, pendulum, and lead time and alarm weights, ht. 40 in. Inpainting on dial, throat glass cracked and repaired and possibly an old replacement, acorn bell/finial of uncertain origin, ill-advised hole through front surface of pediment to secure perpendicular position on wall, case needs regluing.
