Mahogany Patent Timepiece or "Banjo" Clock attributed to Aaron Willard, Jr. , Boston, Massachusetts, c. 1810, convex painted iron dial with Arabic numerals, cross-banded inlaid frames enclosing reverse painted tablets, the waist with thermometer on a calibrated painted iron plate with Fahrenheit degrees and descriptions, "extreme cold", "freezing", "temperate", "summer heat" and "fever heat", the lower glass with Lady Liberty, a globe, an eagle in flight with a banner marked E Pluribus Unum , eight-day timepiece with "T-bridge" suspension, through bolts for movement attachment, step train and recoil escapement, pendulum and lead weight, ht. 34 3/4 in. Lower glass is repainted, waist glass is original, slight inpainting on dial, dial has numerous holes for attachment to case but all holes correspond to dial, dial is original to the case, replacement finial, period hands, weight and pendulum.
